Boulder tourism officials expect strong summer

May 25, 2009 – Despite a tough economy, tourism in Boulder is expected to thrive this summer.  According to the Boulder Visitors and Convention Bureau, hotel occupancy rates are holding steady.  “Last summer everyone said drivers would stay at home, but we didn’t see that in Boulder,” said Mary Ann Mahoney,  the executive director of the visitors bureau. “We actually had a good year in 2008.”

Nobel Laureate Tom Cech Returns to University of Colorado

April 13, 2009 – Nobel laureate and distinguished professor in CU-Boulder’s chemistry and biochemistry department, Tom Cech is returning to the University of Colorado full time this month. He will resume teaching at CU-Boulder and will continue research efforts at his campus laboratory. Cech will also become director of the Colorado Initiative in Molecular Bitechology (CIMB), which includes a planned $115 million research and teaching facility to be built in the CU-Boulder Research Park.

Boulder named best city for starting a business in Colorado

March 31, 2009 – BusinessWeek magazine ranked Boulder the best city for starting up a business in Colorado. Cities across the US, with populations of 20,000 to 200,000 were included in the study which looked at a variety of demographic, business and geographic factors that determine the success of new businesses.
