February 15, 2010 – Daily Camera – According to some city leaders and environmental consultants, the front-page Wall Street Journal article, “Even Boulder Finds It Isn’t Easy Going Green“, was outdated and overly negative. Kara Mertz, the city’s Local Environment Action Division (LEAD) manager, explained that the article used examples of 2007 and 2008 programs. Since they were introduced, “the city recognized that these programs were not successful enough to reach the greenhouse-gas reduction goals established by City Council, nor were they adequate to satisfy our community.” As a result, the city has shifted its focus from outreach to action.
